A properly built render surface gives an exterior wall the even base needed for its final texture and protective coating. EcoClad WA provides rendering as part of lightweight cladding work and can coordinate the stages from expanded polystyrene (EPS) foam cladding installation through to the visible finish.
The substrate comes first. EPS cladding, masonry and other approved exterior substrates do not automatically use the same preparation, render product or build depth. The specified system needs to match the surface, the project details and the intended coating.

Render and Texture Coating Perform Different Jobs
Dulux describes its RenderWall range as cement-based levelling render for absorbent masonry, used before a compatible acrylic texture system. Cement rendering is the base-preparation stage in that specified build-up. The render levels the surface; the texture and protective coating create the selected appearance above it. A different substrate, including EPS, needs its own approved products and system details.
Keeping that distinction clear makes finish discussions more useful. A client can choose the visual texture and colour, but the base render still has to be suitable for the substrate and compatible with the complete coating specification.
How an Exterior Rendering Scope Is Developed
Inspect the Substrate and Junctions
The wall needs to be sound and ready for the specified render system. Openings, parapets, corners, movement joints, flashings and changes of material are reviewed because they affect preparation and detailing.
Select the Compatible Render Build
Product choice and thickness depend on the substrate and the system specification. Manufacturer instructions set out preparation, mixing, application and curing requirements for each product. Those directions take priority over a generic rule of thumb.
Complete the Texture and Coating Stages
Once the render base is ready, the selected texture profile and coating system complete the facade. Consistent application across adjoining walls and features helps the finished exterior read as one planned surface.

What Affects a Rendering Quote
A useful quote needs more than wall area. Substrate condition, access, scaffold, wall height, openings, architectural shapes, repair needs, product specification and the chosen finish all change the work involved. Photos are helpful for an initial discussion, while plans and a site inspection may still be needed before the scope is final.
Compare house rendering costs by the work included: surface preparation and repairs, the specified render build, access equipment and the final coating stages. An area rate on its own cannot show whether those scopes are equivalent.
Rendering Within a Lightweight Cladding Package
For EPS projects, rendering is one stage of the broader cladding system. EcoClad can coordinate panel installation and texture coating with the render, allowing the exterior work to be discussed as one defined package.
Looking After the Rendered Finish
Care is determined by the finish over the render as well as the substrate beneath it. Dulux's Acratex guidance recommends periodic washing and inspection of joints, sealants and surrounding building elements. Its Exsulite manual gives separate system-specific cleaning guidance, including more frequent washing in coastal exposure.
Cracking, damaged junctions or signs of moisture deserve inspection before repainting. Recoating changes the surface appearance, but it does not by itself establish the cause of a defect. Keep the coating specification so repairs and maintenance products can be checked for compatibility.
